Memories

You were my best friend and partner in crime, the party girl with the smile and super polite manner. You were the class rebel who always handed her homework in on time. You smoked Marlborough reds but never at school. I remember how we first got drunk on pink Babycham, how we danced till the morning in Benicassim, how we saw New Year in sleeping on a bathroom floor at a party near St Geoire. I remember countless gigs at the Marquee in tiny skirts and big boots and how we'd hide in the loos giggling till 'Fusions' club night began.  The ever reliable 14 night bus taking us home in the early hours.  How can I forget strolling around Camden Market with your (so not cool) yellow tape recorder blaring Guns n Roses. We thought we were the epitome of cool. We foolishly thought we were groupies to the Silver Hearts and you had a soft spot for a roadie named Klaus because of his pierced nose. Life was so uncomplicated then... I didn't realise it at the time but all our crazy little adventures, our unwaving loyalty, our secret note scribbling during classes , those lengthy daily phone calls and even longer letters written when phone calls were banned were laying a strong foundation that would stand the test of time. I'm so glad we stayed friends till the end even if distance, motherhood and illness meant it was a different friendship... I will always miss you Camille, thank you for all the memories and for being such a big part of my life. Xxx
